"George Springer left Monday night's game against the LA Dodgers earlier than he anticipated. The Toronto Blue Jays veteran outfielder exited Game 3 of the World Series in the middle of his at-bat in the seventh inning after a big cut on a first pitch 96 mph sinker that he fouled off. Springer immediately pointed to his side after the swing and met the Blue Jays manager and their trainer halfway to the dugout. After a few words, Springer was taken out of the game."
"It's the second time this postseason that Springer has been hurt during an at-bat. In Game 5 of the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners, Springer was hit directly on the knee cap. It was the exact same pitch that hit Springer as the one that took him out of Game 3 of the World Series; a 96 mph sinker. The one in Seattle was delivered by Bryan Woo in a 1-1 count in the top of the seventh."
George Springer exited Game 3 of the World Series in the seventh inning after fouling a 96 mph sinker and immediately indicated pain on his side. He met the Blue Jays manager and trainer on his way to the dugout and was removed from the game. This is the second at-bat injury Springer has suffered this postseason, having been struck on the kneecap by a 96 mph sinker in Game 5 of the ALCS. X-rays from that previous incident were negative and Springer later returned to deliver a three-run home run in Game 7. Medical evaluation of the current injury is pending and the team has not announced his availability for upcoming games.
