José Berríos did not return to the Toronto Blue Jays last season, refusing to pitch out of the bullpen during the playoffs and choosing to rehab an elbow injury in Puerto Rico instead of joining the postseason roster. He apologized to teammates for skipping the postseason, calling his absence a "mistake" and a "bad decision." General manager Ross Atkins said Berríos was disappointed about not being in the rotation. Pitchers and catchers have reported to spring camp and Berríos is no longer expected to be moved before Opening Day. Berríos, 31, has three years and roughly $68 million remaining on his contract.
