"I had a wonderful time being in Anaheim, playing in Anaheim, getting to know the guys and getting to play next to Hall of Fame players too. I'm just very thankful for that time period, and it's something I'll cherish for the rest of my life."
"a gamble worth taking"
"can beat anybody on any given night."
The Angels traded outfielder Taylor Ward to acquire right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. Ward expressed surprise at the transaction while conveying gratitude for his time in Anaheim and openness to re-signing if the team shows interest next winter. General manager Perry Minasian described the swap as exchanging one year of Ward for up to four years of a viable rotation arm and labeled Rodriguez a gamble worth taking given significant injury risk after not pitching since July 2024. Rodriguez will likely face an innings limit in 2026. The Angels remain in the market for starting pitching, third-base help, and center-field depth amid a thin free-agent center-field market.
