"The Toronto Blue Jays have failed this offseason to find a player to fill the production void that Bo Bichette left when he became a free agent. They pursued and offered Kyle Tucker a 10-year, $350 million contract. However, the Dodgers swooped in at the last second with a four-year, $240 million deal that Tucker accepted. It's a third offseason in a row that the Blue Jays were outbid for the top free agent."
"Bichette last season hit .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs, 78 runs, and 94 knocked in. He finished the season with his second-highest wRC+ (134) over his seven-year career. He's now heading to the New York Mets with a three-year, $126 million contract. Cody Bellinger is the only high-dollar player available, and he could fill Bichette's void, but if he's not signed, the Blue Jays will have to find someone in-house."
The Toronto Blue Jays failed this offseason to replace Bo Bichette and were outbid for a top free agent after offering Kyle Tucker a 10-year, $350 million contract that the Dodgers undercut with a four-year, $240 million deal. Bichette hit .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs and a 134 wRC+ last season and signed a three-year, $126 million contract with the New York Mets. Cody Bellinger is the only remaining high-dollar option who could cover Bichette's production. The Blue Jays must look internally for replacements. Anthony Santander struggled in 2025 with low power, high strikeouts, injuries, and long absences. Daulton Varsho produced 20 home runs but missed half the season.
