Sean McVay dug deep in his bag of tricks to persuade Davante Adams to sign with Rams
Briefly

Davante Adams has joined the Los Angeles Rams after a successful recruitment from Coach Sean McVay, dating back to a conversation at the Kentucky Derby. Adams, who is excited to return to California, signed a two-year contract with $20 million guaranteed. His desire to join the Rams grew stronger after connecting with McVay and learning more about the team's dynamics. He joins a young receiving corps while expressing eagerness about working together with a respected coach and a solid team.
"He was just like, 'Look man, I've got a lot of respect for your game,'" Adams said, "'and it would be amazing at some point to be able to team up, join forces and figure it out together on the same team.'"
"I thought he was out there too," Adams quipped, "just based off, I was talking to him more than I was talking to my wife. He definitely showed a lot of interest."
After speaking with McVay, Rams players and other team personnel, "it was clear that this is where I needed to be," said Adams.
Adams, who signed a two-year contract that includes $20 million in guarantees this year, is clearly happy to be back in California, where he attended high school in Palo Alto and played at Fresno State.
