"Chris Marve was hired with the knowledge that he could one day advance considering his history and experience if the opportunity was presented. He's a teacher, a motivator and a man of great character."
"The Buffaloes now feature a Black head coach, offensive and defensive coordinators for the first time in program history, the school announced."
"I'm excited to get on the field Monday with these two extraordinary coordinators that will uplift our program on and off the field."
Colorado football coach Deion Sanders finalized his coaching staff restructuring as spring practice begins. Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp resigned as defensive pass rush coordinator to pursue other opportunities. Chris Marve was promoted to defensive coordinator after Robert Livingston departed to join the Denver Broncos. Marve previously served as defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech before joining Colorado in December as linebackers coach. Sanders also hired offensive coordinator Brennan Marion in December to implement the "Go-Go" offense. The program now features Black head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator for the first time in school history. Additional staff additions include NFL veteran Vonn Bell as an analyst for safeties. Colorado finished 3-9 last season.
