Whipping winds expected to bring 'extreme and life-threatening' fire conditions to Los Angeles
Briefly

The National Weather Service has issued a rare Particularly Dangerous Situation red flag warning for L.A. County due to extreme winds and low humidity, raising fire risks.
Although red flag warnings are fairly common in L.A., the Particularly Dangerous Situation warning is extreme, typically issued only once every few years, highlighting heightened fire risks.
Kevin McGowan, director of L.A. County's Office of Emergency Management, stated residents must be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice, especially those in canyon and foothill areas.
County officials are urging residents in high-risk areas to prepare for emergencies by signing up for alerts, charging devices, and having flashlights ready in case of power outages.
