Approximately an hour and a half into the flight, the Boeing 777 returned to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, where police conducted a search. Passengers waited on the tarmac for four hours while authorities investigated. The threat was linked to a message found on the bathroom mirror that indicated a bomb. United Airlines assured passengers of rebooking arrangements following the incident.
