Two injured as blaze rips through Longford takeaway

"The fryer was overheating and a customer threw water on it," she said. "He was standing behind the counter and he threw the water."

Gardaí assisted emergency services personnel at the scene of a fire at a premises on Main Street, Longford shortly after 1pm today," said the spokesperson.

Local businesswoman, Shabban Naz who operates a local retail outlet nearby, told of how she thought the fire started.

A garda spokesperson confirmed officers were in situ, but was not in a position to reveal the nature or extent of the injuries sustained by those involved.
