The future of Angel Stadium? Anaheim puts the issue on hold
Briefly

The city of Anaheim plans to assess Angel Stadium's condition this summer before deciding its future. City deputy manager Ted White emphasized the need for a thorough evaluation, which will consider extensive repairs expected to cost hundreds of millions. This assessment will influence discussions on whether the Angels will continue their lease or consider new agreements, potentially involving redevelopment of surrounding parking lots. Mayor Ashleigh Aitken has initiated negotiations with the team, advocating for Anaheim's name prominence. The Angels have confirmed their commitment to staying through at least 2032.
"We want to have that opportunity to evaluate it and prepare a presentation for you," said White, who projected making that presentation sometime that fall.
The assessment is expected to detail the repairs and maintenance needed to keep the stadium safe and sound for decades to come.
Aitken listed eight starting points for negotiations, including her desire for the name 'Anaheim' to reclaim its prominence with the team.
The Angels have committed to play in Angel Stadium through 2032 and have options through 2038.
