In western Mexico's Jalisco state, the Jalisco Search Warriors found shoes, clothes, and bone fragments at a suspected cartel-run ranch. This site, close to Guadalajara, is believed to have served as a training center for the Jalisco New Generation cartel. Authorities had previously raided it but made little progress until this group's recent discovery, prompted by an anonymous tip. Families searching for missing relatives are hoping for concrete action from local authorities, who have been criticized for inadequacy in addressing over 120,000 disappearances in Mexico.
"A lot of families have stepped forward to identify items of clothing," said Maribel, a member of the search collective. "What we want is to stop all of this, the disappearances."
This ranch served as a training site and - even though it sounds awful, really harsh - for extermination." said Indira Navarro, leader of the Jalisco Search Warriors.
Jalisco State Prosecutor Salvador González de los Santos... admitted that previous efforts from the authorities were "insufficient."
