LAPD responded to reports of a man with a rifle in Boyle Heights. Officers encountered the armed suspect in a van and shot him. SWAT tried to communicate with him using gas, but received no response. SWAT officers attempted to make contact with the suspect after the shooting and deployed gas to force him out, but he did not respond.
