Debbie Henry, a resident of Altadena, faced the devastation of the Eaton fire, ultimately losing her home. Unlike previous evacuations, she faced a longer wait for assistance and suitable clothing. On the recommendation of a friend, she visited Qurves Boutique in Burbank, where owner Olivia Pyle transformed her plus-size clothing shop into a donation hub for fire victims. Pyle aimed to provide quality outfits, respecting the dignity of those displaced. By carefully selecting donations to ensure cleanliness and fit, she created an inviting shopping experience, allowing victims to regain control in a time of loss.
People lost their homes, not their dignity. They should be able to pick.
I saw a need. Shopping as a plus-size person is hard enough.
Windfall donations enabled Pyle to be selective with the items she accepted.
Once she quality-checked and sorted them by size and type, she added her picks to a display.
