The California National Guard is removing checkpoints, allowing public access to the area on Pacific Coast Highway from 8 a.m. on Sunday. However, local residents have expressed concerns about safety, pollution, and the risk of looting. Although Mayor Karen Bass supports the reopening for progress, some local officials, including Councilmember Traci Park, believe it is premature and endangers community wellbeing.
