"It's not even close," said Mark DiCamillo, director of the poll. In order to keep his seat, Gascón would have to significantly alter voter perceptions in the coming weeks. "This now appears to be Hochman's race to lose. He's way ahead," DiCamillo said.
Gascón, who came from way behind in 2020, anticipates a similar scenario for this election. "I feel very bullish about the final outcome," he said.
For supporters of Hochman, a significant 66% stated the need to "reduce turmoil and bring needed change to the district attorney's office" as an "extremely important" factor.
Gascón’s supporters identified 55% said his efforts to influence policy as a key reason for their backing, indicating that voter sentiments are deeply tied to perceptions of effectiveness.
