Mendendez brothers now eligible for parole after resentencing
Briefly

Erik and Lyle Menendez, convicted of murdering their parents in 1989, had their sentences reduced to 50 years to life. A California judge ruled they are eligible for parole under the youthful offender law since the crime occurred when they were under 26. During their trial, the brothers claimed abuse, while the prosecution argued for financial motives. After spending over 35 years in prison, they now face a potential path to freedom following positive character testimonies from family and a former judge.
