Two gunmen attacked the Islamic Center of San Diego, killing three men. Mansour Kaziha and Nader Awad were identified after friends and family identified Amin Abdullah, a security guard credited with thwarting the attackers. The alleged gunmen were later found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime. Mosque officials said all three victims played roles in responding to the attackers, including calling police, rushing to the facility, and helping divert people. Imam Taha Hassane described Awad as a devout community member and daily participant in prayers. San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said the victims’ actions likely helped save 140 people.
