Delvonne Dashon Johnson, a 31-year-old from East Hollywood, allegedly scammed FEMA for nearly $65,000 by claiming he owned a Pacific Palisades home destroyed in the January wildfires. Johnson submitted his fraudulent claim shortly after the fires were contained, and FEMA awarded him $64,138. The true homeowner reported the fraud after FEMA informed her someone else had submitted a claim for her property. Johnson, among four arrested for this scheme, was scheduled for his first court appearance in late April 2023.
Johnson fraudulently claimed FEMA benefits in February, reporting ownership of a home destroyed in the Palisades Fire and received over $64,000 in disaster relief.
The homeowner of the property Johnson falsely claimed to own reported to authorities that someone else submitted a FEMA claim for her house.
