Macy fire gains ferocity, threatening homes near Lake Elsinore

A fast-moving fire near Lake Elsinore, the Macy Fire, has forced evacuations of homes and burned more than 130 acres. An evacuation order was in place for homes west of Grand Avenue.
By 9 p.m., 200 firefighters were battling the blaze that was 0% contained. Highways were closed as planes and helicopters worked to combat the flames near homes.
"We have a massive fire right here," said a resident witnessing the fire's proximity to homes. Flames broke the ridge near houses, necessitating swift action and evacuations.
