Orange County health authorities reported that about 465,000 gallons of sewage have spilled due to a broken sewer main, affecting nearby beaches in Laguna.
Despite the sewer line breach being repaired, Laguna Beach remains closed to swimming, surfing, and diving until water quality conditions improve.
Katrina Foley, Orange County Supervisor, emphasized the importance of public health by urging residents and visitors to avoid the closed beaches while water tests are conducted.
This incident marks the second sewage spill in Orange County within two months, following a previous spill in Dana Point that contaminated the coastal area.
