LA28 Olympics Committee backs embattled Casey Wasserman over Epstein files
"As Casey Wasserman faces growing fallout over his past ties to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the leaders of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics announced Wednesday that it had reviewed Wasserman's past conduct and determined he should continue to serve as chair of LA28. "We found Mr. Wasserman's relationship with Epstein and Maxwell did not go beyond what has already been publicly documented," the Executive Committee of the Board said in as statement after meeting Wednesday after hiring outside counsel to review his conduct."
"Over the last few days, a stream of high-profile clients from singer-songwriter Chappell Roan to country music star Orville Peck have announced that they are breaking away from Wasserman's talent agency after he appeared in the latest batch of the Epstein files released by the Department of Justice. On Wednesday morning, retired U.S. women's soccer player and Olympic athlete Abby Wambach that she, too, was leaving the Wasserman agency."
LA28's Executive Committee hired outside counsel to review Casey Wasserman's past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell and concluded the relationship did not go beyond publicly documented incidents. The committee noted a single humanitarian flight to Africa on Epstein's plane more than two decades ago and the exchange of publicly-known emails with Maxwell. The committee cited Wasserman's decade of strong leadership and determined he should remain chair to deliver a safe, successful 2028 Games. The review involved full cooperation from Wasserman. High-profile clients and performers have announced they are leaving his talent agency amid the revelations.
