In Los Angeles County, a new pilot project has emerged to accommodate RV dwellers facing legal challenges. The Crenshaw District now hosts a safe parking location for recreational vehicles, allowing residents to stay for up to six months while seeking permanent housing. This initiative is part of the Pathway Home program, which has successfully relocated numerous RV occupants. County Supervisor Holly Mitchell emphasized the importance of helping individuals transition to better housing, particularly those exploited by high-rent van lords. The project reflects a creative approach to homelessness in a region with a significant RV population.
The one-year, $900,000 pilot project opened in November on county property vacated by the Probation Department when it moved to Downey in 2019.
