L.A. County to add more than 650 acres of green space through grants
Briefly

The L.A. County Regional Park and Open Space District has distributed $17 million in grants from Measure A tax revenues to enhance parkland and recreational spaces across multiple communities. This funding will create and renovate 623 acres of new and improved green areas, focusing on equity to ensure access for underprivileged neighborhoods. Notable projects include expansions in Baldwin Park and Montecito Heights, as well as significant land acquisitions in Santa Clarita, highlighting a commitment to improving residents' quality of life through increased access to nature.
Through technical assistance, community-driven solutions, and a commitment to equity, we have ensured that the hardest-to-reach places - where families haven't been able to walk to a park - are finally getting the green space they deserve.
The grants, which will create or renovate 623 acres of new parkland and natural spaces, were announced Tuesday at a news conference at Los Angeles City Hall.
