The California Board of State and Community Corrections highlighted the Probation Department's failure, stating, 'The department failed a last-chance inspection due to inadequate staffing to ensure safety for the youth.'
Criminal defense attorney Jerod Gunsberg expressed concern, saying, 'I don't see how the court in good faith can continue to order youth detained at Los Padrinos...not going to comply with oversight bodies.'
Luis Rodriguez from the public defender's office noted that if the Probation Department doesn't shut down Los Padrinos, they will argue in court that this violates California law.
