Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order to temporarily suspend California's environmental laws to accelerate rebuilding efforts in LA wildfire zones, allowing builders to move quickly.
More than 12,000 structures were destroyed in California wildfires, and Newsom emphasized the need for swift recovery to help displaced victims find housing in a challenging market.
The order also extends protections against price gouging of building materials and services until January 2026, addressing concerns over costs during recovery.
Steve Hudson from the California Coastal Commission highlighted ongoing assistance efforts, saying they are actively collaborating with local governments to ensure a smooth recovery process.
