The former Morrison Hotel, known for its connection to The Doors, was vacant for over 15 years and recently planned for affordable housing before it caught fire.
Los Angeles Fire Department found three individuals on the third floor of the building as they extinguished the fire that took nearly an hour and a half.
The building, red-tagged prior to the fire, has a long history and was once the site of a famous album photograph featuring Jim Morrison.
Music photographer Henry Diltz recounted how he captured the iconic shot of The Doors at the Morrison Hotel despite initial resistance from hotel staff.
