DWP has fixed the vast majority of fire hydrants flagged for repairs last year
Briefly

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has successfully addressed the majority of fire hydrants that were identified for repair in the previous year's inspections, following delays in data transfer from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). LAFD had found 1,350 hydrants requiring attention, but issues with data transmission delayed repairs until February. DWP has since replaced 148 hydrants and repaired over 800. This situation raised concerns about hydrant functionality during incidents such as the Palisades fire, leading to adjustments in LAFD's reporting protocol to DWP.
The report we received on [Feb. 14] was completely different than the report we received in August. That was the first time we saw the 'needs repair.'
The utility replaced 148 hydrants and performed minor repairs on 805 hydrants. Six hydrants were functioning but needed water to be turned on at a nearby valve.
