Alex Vesia and his wife Kayla announced that their infant daughter, Sterling, died on Sunday, October 26. Vesia missed the World Series while the team cited a "deeply personal family matter." Vesia went 4-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 68 regular-season games and 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA in seven postseason appearances. Dodgers and Blue Jays relievers wore Vesia's No. 51 on their caps as a tribute during the Series. The Vesias thanked Cedars Sinai Medical Center staff, both teams, and fans for their understanding, support, and comforting messages. The Dodgers won the World Series in seven games.
