CPUC OKs plan that could close Aliso Canyon - eventually. Residents want immediate action
Briefly

The decision disappointed local activists, who want the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility closed much sooner, rather than having it continue operations into the next decade.
CPUC Commissioner John Reynolds stated that the vote does not indicate a lack of concern for residents, but is about ensuring safe, reliable, and affordable utility service.
State Sen. Henry Stern expressed frustration over the lack of urgency, saying, 'You're hearing the distress out there that, 'We waited nine years for this.'"
The approved plan aims to develop a process to wind down the facility as natural gas demand is expected to decline in the coming years.
