In the Senate, after this week's swearing-in of Adam B. Schiff, men now hold both of California's U.S. Senate seats for the first time since the early 1990s.
So it's surprising and disappointing that California has not been at the fore and may indeed now be sliding toward the back end of equality and representation in Washington.
