Los Angeles firefighters are currently battling a small brush fire in Griffith Park, reported around 1 p.m. The blaze has consumed half an acre, and smoke is visible from Hollywood. Firefighters are on-site and have deployed helicopters for water drops, which have been effective in slowing the fire's spread.
The National Weather Service has issued a "particularly dangerous situation" wind warning for Los Angeles County, marking the fifth such warning this season due to acute fire conditions. Peak gusts could reach between 50 mph to 70 mph, with particularly high gusts isolated to mountainous areas.
Rose Schoenfeld, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, detailed expected wind speeds, stating, 'Isolated gusts of up to 100 mph are possible in the mountains and foothills, with sustained winds between 30 mph to 50 mph in those areas.'
