The Ventete aH-1, an inflatable helmet designed by three U.K. designers, addresses the need for cyclist safety and convenience. Launched last year in the U.K. and selling out rapidly, it folds down to one-tenth its size and inflates in under 30 seconds using a USB pump. It has proven superior in linear impact absorption tests and offers enhanced comfort and resilience. The development involved numerous iterations and the creation of specialized materials and manufacturing processes, resulting in 26 patents for the innovative design, showcasing the blend of safety and practicality.
"We knew it was on the edge of impossibility, but we had a suspicion that it could exist."
The helmet folds down to a tenth of its size to slide into a backpack, expanding in 30 seconds with a USB pump.
In safety tests, the design outperformed 30 conventional helmets in linear impact absorption.
The final helmet doesn't hold in heat, is more comfortable, and is more resilient than traditional foam helmets.
