Another Top Biglaw Firm Kicks One Of Its China Offices To The Curb - Above the Law
Briefly

Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati will close its Beijing office, becoming the 18th U.S. law firm to do so since the exodus began in 2024. The firm cited a need to evaluate operations and efficiency while stating its commitment to continuing service in Greater China through other offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong. This closure is part of a larger trend, with several firms leaving mainland China amidst shifting geopolitical dynamics, raising questions about the future of law firms in the region.
We continually evaluate and adapt our operations to ensure we are effectively meeting the needs of our clients, while maintaining high levels of efficiency. With that approach in mind, the firm has decided to forgo renewing its office lease in Beijing and to begin the process of winding down operations in that location.
We remain dedicated to providing exceptional service in Greater China and the rest of Asia through our other offices in that region, and will take the steps needed to ensure a smooth transition for clients, attorneys, and professional staff.
