Airbnb is branching out by launching luxury services, such as personal trainers and chefs, on its redesigned app, aiming to offer hotel-like services combined with rental space. This initiative comes amidst challenges, including slowed bookings and potential short-term rental bans in certain cities. The new offerings will be available in 260 cities and will start from under $50, appealing to a broader audience. The updated app features an experiences tab for bespoke tours, reflecting a growing trend among travelers seeking customized and unique experiences.
"People choose hotels for their services. People choose Airbnbs for the space... now, we're giving you the best of both worlds," said CEO Brian Chesky.
"Travellers are now thinking much more about how to customise the trip for themselves, not just the actual functional parts of how they get there and where they stay," said Gary Bowerman.
"There are so many people that have travelled and experienced the same things. What consumers want now is bespoke options and unique experiences," luxury travel consultant Anastasia Oriordan explained.
