Plans approved by the Greater London Authority in September 2024 permit the All England Lawn Tennis Club to build 38 tennis courts and an 8,000-seat stadium on the former Wimbledon Park Golf Club. Save Wimbledon Park (SWP) is pursuing a Court of Appeal challenge after a High Court dismissal in July. SWP argues the approval was irrational and that statutory trusts and restrictive covenants protect the Grade II*-listed Wimbledon Park, partly designed by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. Separate High Court proceedings on the existence of a statutory trust are scheduled for January 2026.
