In an investigation by the Metropolitan Police, three men were arrested for their involvement in a series of violent robberies in Mayfair, where victims were threatened while attempting to protect their high-value watches. Tedros Haile, Mahad Jammeh, and Christian Whittingham were linked to the crimes through surveillance, recovered clothing, and CCTV footage. Haile received an eleven-year sentence, Jammeh received eight years, and Whittingham faced ten years and six months. Det Insp Lizzie Beeston highlighted the serious impact of such violent crimes on victims.
Our investigation has ensured three violent offenders have been removed from our streets. Every robbery has a significant impact on the victim. This is a violent crime that leaves a significant, lasting effect on the victim.
Haile pleaded guilty to one count of robbery at Southwark Crown Court on June 25, 2024, and was later found guilty of a further count of robbery and one charge of attempted robbery on February 11.
