VE Day 80th Anniversary celebrations taking place across north London
Briefly

VE Day, celebrated on May 8, 1945, marked the end of WWII in Europe. To commemorate this important anniversary, events are scheduled across Camden, Brent, and Barnet. Camden Council is hosting a Big Street Party on May 5, celebrating 60 years of Camden while honoring VE Day. In Brent, family-oriented events including street parties and historical talks are planned. These activities aim to engage the community and remember the significant historical milestones both locally and nationally.
"The Big Street Party is our amazing opportunity to show everyone how we have been able to reclaim this busy street, with its iconic markets, music venues, and businesses..."
"This event celebrates Camden's 60-year legacy while also commemorating VE Day 80, remembering 80 years since Victory in Europe Day."
"As well as local reggae artists performing live, there will be stalls, food, and face painting at the family street party in Windrush Corner."
"Philip Grant of the Wembley History Society will be giving an illustrated talk that will look at both the events in May 1945, and the experiences of local people during the previous six years."
