'They promised to fix broken benches but it's delay after delay after delay'
Briefly

Residents in Belsize Park, led by Linda Grove, are advocating for the repair or replacement of worn street benches in Haverstock Hill. Plans for five new benches as part of Camden Council's safety scheme were proposed but not implemented yet. Grove highlights the need for functionality against environmental issues like pigeon droppings. Anne Ward of the Belsize Grove Tenants Association emphasizes the significance of these benches for the elderly community, who use them frequently. Camden Council has stated that new benches are part of ongoing construction improvements to enhance local safety and community utilization.
All these benches have been worn out for years. The council said they want to develop the area and put in planters, but with the benches it's delay after delay after delay and nothing's happened.
The benches need to be repaired or new ones put in and they need to move them away from trees as at the moment pigeons poop on them.
The bench located on the corner of Haverstock Hill and Belsize Grove, which also catches the sunshine, is a favoured place to rest on the way to and from bus and underground stops and from which to watch the world go by.
As part of the permanent Haverstock Hill scheme, which is now under construction, we will shortly be installing new benches to provide further opportunities to stop and rest.
