Residents of Blewbury House, a 13-floor tower block in Thamesmead, have faced a serious water supply issue for four days due to a leak in a privately owned flat. Managed by Peabody, the residents reported inability to perform basic hygiene activities such as flushing toilets, washing, and brushing teeth. Although Peabody confirmed the leak was fixed and that normal water supply was being restored, residents expressed frustration over poor communication and ongoing interruptions. Many, like Julia, felt embarrassed and helpless during this crisis, highlighting the significant impact of housing management issues on daily life.
We waited to see if it was fixed on Tuesday morning, but it still wasn't on. I called the out-of-hours service on Tuesday night, and I was told that a flat had a massive leak... so they had to turn the water off.
We're sorry that residents have had an intermittent water supply this week following a leak in one of the homes. We contacted residents to explain what was happening and the leak is now fixed.
At the moment, the water is working, but it keeps getting switched off without notice.
How are we able to brush our teeth? I wanted temporary accommodation, and we were told the water would be fixed.
