The Night-Dwellers
Briefly

The article reflects on the unique sleep schedule of a freelance journalist, who embraces a nocturnal lifestyle. Rarely requiring much sleep, the author has adopted hours that conflict with the conventional day, often waking in the afternoon and enjoying late-night social spots. This lifestyle brings challenges in experiencing daily life in Taipei, as many businesses operate when the journalist is asleep. Despite the difficulties, the author finds that their unusual sleeping habits are beneficial in certain journalism circumstances, showcasing the nuanced relationship between profession and personal life.
I've always had an odd sleep schedule, and don't usually require much sleep. These days it's common for me to go to sleep at 10:00 a.m. and wake up at 3:00 p.m.
To this day, it makes me feel a bit irregular, being an extreme night person to the point of being a morning person. As though I'm cosmically mismatched for this day person's world of ours.
I never really get to experience many parts of Taipei that don't match with my waking life. Other businesses I use entirely the wrong way.
In journalism, my nocturnal tendencies can be a help in certain circumstances.
