'The community is in shock' - tributes paid as two teens killed in Mayo road crash
"The community is in shock at the news that filtered through this morning of the two lives lost in the accident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have passed, their family and friends who are suffering from this tragedy to befall our community."
"The lads' families are great people and the lads themselves would have a huge circle of friends. It really is a nightmare and hard to find words. Too many young men are dying on our roads. It has to stop."
"Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conducted technical examinations of the scene. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí."
Cian Farrell (18) and Padraic Tuffy (19) died in a single vehicle accident at Laghtadawannagh near Ballina early Sunday morning. Both were from respected local families. Emergency services arrived quickly but could not save the boys, who succumbed to critical injuries at the scene. Three other occupants—two mid-teens males and one late-teens female—were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The community expressed shock and grief over the tragedy. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conducted technical examinations while the road remained closed. Authorities are seeking witnesses and any available camera footage to investigate the incident.
