Recent weeks have seen a dramatic uptick in graffiti on Londonâs Bakerloo and Central lines, leading to heightened complaints from passengers regarding train cleanliness. A track defect hindered the use of the automatic train wash, forcing hand-cleaning methods which are more time-consuming. Transport for London (TfL) acknowledged the graffiti problem and reassured that efforts are underway to manage and clean the affected vehicles. Labour Assembly member Bassam Mahfouz expressed concerns about the impact of graffiti on passenger safety and the overall pride in Londonâs public transport system.
"TfL has noted a significant rise in graffiti incidents on the Underground fleet, particularly on the Bakerloo and Central lines, prompting passenger complaints."
"A track defect in the depot hindered the use of the automatic train wash, leading to an increase in dirt and graffiti on trains for several weeks."
