In 1974, Alfie Conn, a Rangers midfielder, anticipated a move to Manchester United after a fallout with his manager. However, unbeknownst to him, he ended up at Tottenham Hotspur instead. Upon arrival, Conn was welcomed by Bill Nicholson, and he quickly agreed to sign with Spurs. During his three years at Tottenham, he became a beloved figure, earning the nickname 'King of White Hart Lane'. Despite a bright start, including a hat-trick on his debut, Conn later fell out of favor and faced the prospect of returning to Glasgow, this time potentially signing with Celtic.
