Scaffolding collapses on to road and traps man

In Stoke Newington, East London, a significant incident occurred when large sections of scaffolding from the public library collapsed onto the street. Fortunately, emergency teams swiftly responded to the scene, rescuing a man trapped in his van without reporting any injuries. Local traffic and pedestrian access were halted in both directions at the Church Street and Albion Road junction, while affected residents were evacuated as a precaution. Authorities maintain a cordon around the site, where local buses have been diverted. The library, a Grade II listed building, has been under major roof repairs since March 2024.
