"The Mayor has also been working closely with Government on the necessary legislation to establish OSDC, following support from the London Assembly in July 2025, which took effect on 1 January. Today's landmark first meeting of the new OSDC Board takes place at London's City Hall to discuss their shared vision for Oxford Street, as well as the work to date and key priorities going forward."
The Mayor of London convenes the inaugural Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC) Board to steer regeneration and wider growth in central London. OSDC became operational on 1 January after London Assembly support and ongoing work with Government on enabling legislation. Detailed pedestrianisation proposals are open for consultation until 16 January, with around seven in ten people and businesses backing the regeneration and two-thirds supporting pedestrianisation. Retailers are accelerating leasing activity on Oxford Street, with Savills forecasting a record number of retail launches by the end of 2026. The Board met at City Hall to set a shared vision, review work to date, and identify priorities. Appointed members bring legal, retail, and design expertise to deliver a world-class leisure destination.
