London mayor Sadiq Khan has strongly criticized Donald Trump's recent remarks regarding peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, labeling the situation as 'bonkers.' Khan disputed Trump's assertion that Ukraine bears responsibility for Russia's invasion, emphasizing the presence of numerous Ukrainian refugees in London due to the conflict. He condemned the notion of rewarding Russia by legitimizing its occupation of Ukraine while expressing solidarity with Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, and bringing attention to the ongoing suffering of Ukrainian civilians amidst the war.
Mr Khan slammed the US president's claim that Ukraine is responsible for Russia's invasion as he criticised the recent discussions excluding Ukraine.
We have tens of thousands of Ukrainians who are refugees in our city because of Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine, the mayor said during an interview.
He also condemned the idea of rewarding the aggressor by legitimising Russia's occupation and praised Kyiv's mayor Vitali Klitschko for his bravery.
Mr Khan emphasised the suffering of Ukrainians in light of the ongoing crisis and the validity of their plight.
