Romford man who died after fire tore through house is named
Briefly

Darrell Michael Wright perished from smoke inhalation during a house fire in Belgrave Avenue, leading to an inquest officially opened on June 23. The fire, which spread through the ground and first floors, was deemed non-suspicious by police after they were called in by the London Fire Brigade. A post-mortem revealed that Wright suffered from severe coronary artery atherosclerotic disease in addition to smoke inhalation. The coroner, Nadia Persaud, has set a final inquest for December, intending to gather evidence from various services and Mr. Wright's family.
The coroner stated, 'I'm satisfied on those facts this death occurred in circumstances requiring an inquest,' highlighting the necessity of investigating Mr. Wright's tragic death.
Coroner's officer Jean Smyth informed the court, 'Police later decided the fire was non-suspicious, so handed the case over to the coroner's service,' emphasizing the procedural steps taken.
