"LONDON - Prince William and Princess Catherine have expressed their concern over the latest revelations to emerge from the Jeffrey Epstein files, a palace official said Monday, as the shadow cast by the disgraced financier continues to cloud the highest echelons of British society. Speaking to reporters Monday, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: "I can confirm the Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims." It appeared to be William and Catherine's first public remarks on the issue."
"Their statement came days after the latest tranche of Epstein documents to be released by the Justice Department appeared to provide further evidence of a long-running association between the disgraced financier and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III and now former prince and duke of York. The implications have reverberated through Britain's highest royal and political spheres, forcing the resignation of Peter Mandelson, London's ambassador to Washington, last year and prompting the resignation Sunday of Morgan McSweeney, Prime Minister Keir Starmer's top aide, over his role in appointing Mandelson."
"Mandelson was dismissed in September over his links to Epstein, after communications emerged showing "that the depth and extent of Peter Mandelson's relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is materially different from that known at the time of his appointment," the British Embassy in Washington said at the time. Among the previously unseen documents, photographs and email messages to be released last month was an image of a man who appeared to be Mountbatten-Windsor kneeling on all fours and positioned over a female. The tranche also contained an email from an account labeled "The Duke" and signed "A" to Epstein, suggesting dinner "and lots of privacy" at Buckingham Palace in 2010, a month after Epstein's house arrest ended."
