Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies blasts London Marathon for allowing trans women to compete in female category
Briefly

Following a recent Supreme Court ruling affirming that 'woman' refers to biological women under the Equality Act, there is significant backlash against the London Marathon's policy. Women's rights activists argue that the Marathon imposes a 'two-tier' system by allowing trans women to participate in the main event but not in the elite women's race. Ms. Davies, an Olympic swimmer, expressed her disappointment, stating the event prioritizes males over females and undermines fairness in sports. Marathon officials contend that the event promotes personal challenges rather than direct competition.
I'm very disappointed that yet again, against the law, the London Marathon has prioritized males over females in the women's category. At every ability and level, women and girls deserve fair and safe sport. I hope the London Marathon are held to account for their anti-women stance.
The mass participation event at the London Marathon is not a race where participants compete against each other. It is a personal challenge.
