Major road which is 'speeding hotspot' to see new safety measures

New safety measures approved for A1306 New Road in Rainham will include a central island, vehicle-activated speed limit signs, and rumble strips, following concerns over speeding and accidents. The road sees around 1,700 vehicles per hour, with a recorded speed of 60mph, far exceeding the 20mph limit. Over the last five years, nine crashes were reported, including one fatality. The £40,000 project is funded by Transport for London and aims to improve safety significantly by also removing excess signage and overhanging branches.
